Game Reviews Information
In this section of my site I will put up some game reviews every once in a while. This isn't the only part of my site that has game reviews however. There are four other review sections, which may sound a tad bit too many. The Underrated Games section will have reviews based upon good games that not many people know about, or for some reason think its not really that good. The Overrated Games section is self-explanatory, and if you are an idiot, you are out of luck, cause I wont explain its meaning. The Disappointing Games section will have reviews on games that were all hyped up about, but turned out very disappointing. And the last section is the Greatest Games section, which will have reviews of my all-time favorite games. The way I review these games me seem a little bit weird at times. My scoring system looks awkward I admit. For example, in some reviews the Gameplay score will have a maximum of 30, while the sound has a maximum of 10. Once you add all the maximums up you will get the number 100. Depending on the game, the maximums will be different, since in some games entertainment is more important than the concept. The most important aspect will have the highest maximum. I know in the end, even if I just did the normal way, it would turn out the same, but its easier this way for me.

Metroid: Zero Mission
Let me point out a few things about this game before I get into the actual review. This is a excellent example of a Metroid game. Also, this game hardly should be called a remake. Most of the game is entirely different, and extended. Concept/Story: Basically, the idea of the game is to make the greatest game of all time even better. And it succeeds by a long shot. Not only is everything redone to give you the feel of a true Metroid game, but it also extends the game and lets you be pulled deeper into the story of infamous Bounty Hunter, known as Samus Aran. Everything that makes Metroid great is implemented very nicely, with even some new twists. 13/15 Graphics: Using the same engine as that of Fusion, the game still manages to be graphically superior. Its not very noticable, and is not perfect. The Gameboy Advance is capable of more. The cutscenes are very nice addition, with cool and colorful drawings. Samus without her suit looks simply gorgeous, or she would be if she was real. But they made her look too young, no matter how weird that sounds. All the enemies look really cool, but when you play outside of Samus's suit, she isn't detailed much at all. They skimmed on that part. The effects are all nice. 9/10 Sound: The effects sound just right for this game. But it doesn't compare to music theme of the game. For a handheld game, I loved the music. As much I liked the sound, it still was not perfect. The music beat out the effects, and that means the effects could've been better. 9/10 Gameplay: For everyone who has played the Metroid games, you will instantly be sucked into this game. All the favorite weapons and abilities are back. It would've been nice to see some abilites or weapons that were never in any of the Metroid games. But its okay, since it still feels like Metroid. The bosses are extremely easy on the easy and normal setting. Compared to the original bosses, they are simply a joke. Ridely was alot easier than Kraid, and Kraid was no threat at all. The game is extremely short, and as appealing as playing without Samus's suit may seem, it doesn't feel like Metroid. It feels like a run and escape, no fighting part of the game, and it lasts a while. The twist to the game it brings is worth this part however. The many additions of bosses were cool too. 33/35 Entertainment/Replay Value: The game is very fun to play, and it may seem addicting, but I have a feeling quite of bit it is because of the shortness of it all. It will seem like its finished in one sitting, but that could be because its really short. I beat the game in 4 hours, but I admit I didn't collect all the stuff. It still should've been about 7 hours of main stuff, in my opinion. The three difficulty levels helps add the real sense of addictiveness to the game. The original Metroid, and other unlockables helps the replay value, but honestly, doesnt help it much. 26/30

Ratchet and Clank: Going Commando
Concept/Story: This series reminds me of a much better version of Jet Force Gemini. So it isn't an original idea, but everything about it is implemented so much better than Rareware's game for the Nintendo 64. There is also enough added features in this series to make it different as well. The story is simple, but very humorous, and so I like it alot. Sometimes I even laughed quite hard, a rare thing in video games. Graphics: Everything in this game was masterfully created and designed. Nowadays, in this field of games, you don't see that good of graphics. Its a rare thing to witness, in my opinion. But in this game, it defies the odds with vibrant colors, detail in everything, awesome effects. I haven't seen one glitch as of yet, and I almost beat the game. I have been playing 16 hours so far. Sound: The voiceacting is pretty good, helping contribute to the humorous aspect of the game. The sound effects were put together pretty good too. Nothing I can't complain about, but nothing to praise, though it is damn near close. Gameplay: Smooth and addicting. Its not very challenging though. The Arena, races, and space battles are very good ideas. The Arena battles and the races are good ideas with great gameplay, and the space battles is a good idea with a crappy control. The Arena battles can be challenging, especially the Impossible Challenge, but there is a strategy to it. All the weapons and gadgets are sweet, putting Jet Force Gemini and the original Ratchet and Clank to shame. The level designs are pretty good and fun, with quite a bit of diversity. Entertainment: The game is fun to the very end. With skill points, races, Arena battles, and space battles, alot will come back for a second go. I doubt they will try and beat it three times. This series is spawning sequels pretty fast for this game to have a very high replay value. Overall: 9.25

Project Gotham Racing
Concept: This is a great idea for a racing game. After playing the very realistic driving games, gameplay wise, like Gran Turismo, a simple arcadish style feels sweet. Having to create your own driving style to get points is a neat idea, and all the ways to unlock cars is cool. 9/10 Graphics: The graphics are smooth, full of texture, everything in it is near perfect. My friend pointed out that some cars weren't the right models of the actual car, since in the game the car was missing some pieces, or had the wrong kind. 4/5 Sound: It has some pretty good tunes, and it only gets better with the Customizable Soundtracks. Did I mention that effects are nice too? Sweet. 5/5 Gameplay: This game drives very nicely for this type of racing game. It will take a while to get used to, but once you do, it will feel like you have always been driving this way. The only problem I had in the gameplay department was the opponent driver's AI. Most of the time they get passed you by bumping you so hard you completely spin around and will loose the race, even if you were in first. It gives me the feeling that they have more of a predetermined direction than AI. The AI is absolutely ruthless and blood thirsty at times, but it also helps give you the feel of an arcade racer. 35/40
Entertainment: I'm not that big of fan in the multiplayer racing for this game. The game does offer enough replay value to come back for a couple years, unless you have the sequel. 32/40

Final Fantasy Tactics Advance
On the last day of 1997, Squaresoft - now known as Square-Enix - released the classic strategy roleplaying game for Playstation One. They did not release too many copies, and the price of the game was very expensive, until later they released plenty more. FFTA is not a sequel or a remake, but a whole new story. Not only is this a good game, but its Sqaure-Enix's first game on any Nintendo gaming device for nearly a decade. Read more and find out how the game turned out in the end. Concept/Story: Square-Enix was smart in deciding not to make a direct sequel, and creating some whole new gameplay ideas. The story is too simple for its own good. Final Fantasy Tactics had a grand, epic story that you couldn't help but get absorbed into. The main characters literally get absorbed into FFTA's story, through a magical book. How often have I seen a game where the characters get sucked into another world? Too much, and Final Fantasy is about new ideas and unique storylines, and this one is not original. 15/20 Graphics: Every part of this aspect fits perfectly in the Final Fantasy Tactics theme. The graphics are colorful and full of detail, with a bit of characters looking too much alike. To help balance that they have draw each characters face, so you can see what they actually look like when they are talking. The spell effects are dazzling to the eye. 9/10
Sound: Some pretty good music for a handheld, and it makes me remember what Final Fantasy is all about. The effects are pretty decent too. 4/5
Gameplay: I have two major problems with this game. The first is the difficulty, which doesn't come close to the challenge the original Final Fantasy Tactics brought you. Compared to the original, this is a joke. The other problem I have is the very flawed menu design. When you want to change weapons, armor, and other items, you can't see ahead of time how you stats will increase. You will have to repeatedly switch back and forth, looking at each stats every switch to know what changes. All the other things in this game are nicely done, especially the unique Laws mechanic. In battles, some manuevers are forbidden, and you cant break them. If you do you can be sent to jail, or get a warning. In one battle I couldn't you use directy melee or direct ranged attacks, bringing in some needed strategy to the game. It still doesn't do enough to balance the difficulty, so its still way too easy. I love the entire idea of missions, but don't really like the exploration theme of building the map to travel. 34/40
Entertainment/Replay Value: This game offers a good deal of replay value. With alot of missions to play, and addicting and fun battles the game takes a long time to get old. Maybe the simple story helps this, so you don't have to see so many long sequences. But an roleplaying game needs a good story in my opinion, and I would rather have a great story then a pretty addicting rpg game. But the addictiveness of this game is very good. I am scoring the addictivness based on the roleplaying scale, and if this was a first-person shoot it wouldn't get a perfect score. 25/25
Overall: 8.75
Not as good as the first, but a great strategy game nonetheless. And for it being the first game for Nintendo since a long while, this game is great. If you a Final Fantasy fan you should pick this up, and any strategy fan should definitely. If you are both, this game will probably be a favorite for you.
