Halo
Concept/Story: The story is good, but only if you read the books. If you do not you will fail to realize the depth to it. The idea of the game is to make one of the best multiplayer FPS games available. It succeeds easily. 8/10
Graphics: One of the best out there. What is lacks in texture in some places, it makes up for the sheer smoothness and animation in the game. Halo 2 will most definitely work on the details, while improving the smoothness only a little, since it was near perfect to begin with. 9/10
Sound: The voice acting fits the characters really well in my opinion. The enemy voices are cool to listen too. All the sound effects are great, with no complaining. The music fits the theme good, but there could've been more variety I guess. 10/10
Gameplay: Alot of people I know say this is standard FPS fare. I completely disagree. The gameplay is very smooth, with very nice and precise aiming mechanics. Usually it can be hard to use two analog sticks in an FPS, but Halo uses them both perfectly. The button layout is so good that Brute Force practically ripped them off with that. Pistol Whipping has never been so fun. Throwing a grenade and hearing the stupid grunts scream, "grenade!" is oh so pleasing. Its pure fun! 34/35
Entertainment: This game offers the most entertainment value I have seen in an First Person Shooter. The multiplayer games never get old, especially when you are doing system link. I love every aspect of this part. 34/35
Overall: 9.5
One of my favorite games at the moment, and definitely my favorite First Person Shooter I have ever played. Bungie Soft said for the sequel they are going to fix all the problems from the first, while improving things that were already good. I can easily predict the sequel will probably turn out a 9.75 or higher. |
